Could you help shape the future of the Smallwood Trust? We're looking for new Trustees who share our passion for helping women out of poverty, and can bring the additional skills we need to lead the charity at this pivotal moment in its long history.

The Smallwood Trust helps women on low incomes to become financially resilient - overcoming adversity to build a confident, positive and secure future. We provide life-changing funds for individual women, women's voluntary sector organisations and practical policy initiatives that aim to promote gender equality.

We have recently increased the number of Trustee places on the Board to provide the breadth of skills needed for the governance of the Trust, including our endowment, and to support the Chief Executive to deliver our new Strategic Plan. We are looking for expertise in:

  • Connection to and/or experience of working with our target beneficiaries
  • Grant-making and commissioning
  • Philanthropy
  • Investment and resource management

As an organisation that directs all its funds to support women in need, we especially welcome female candidates from diverse backgrounds with the potential to fill Board positions, including that of Chair.

Trustees are unremunerated but reasonable expenses are paid. The annual commitment will be around 4-6 meetings per year and there will be other opportunities to engage.

To find out more, please download the attached information pack. For an informal discussion about the roles please contact Paul Carbury, Chief Executive on 01684 439644 or paulcarbury@smallwoodtrust.org.uk

To apply please submit your CV and supporting statement by Sunday 8th October to paulcarbury@smallwoodtrust.org.uk. Interviews will be held on Friday 3rd November.
