Venus is a community based, grassroots organisation working with women and families to enable resilience and empowerment. They achieve this by offering practical and emotional support to help develop the skills needed to reach financial independence.
The Trust awarded a grant of £30,000 through the Women's Sector Resilience Fund to develop a 5-month intensive package of support and create a safe passage for vulnerable women through the pandemic bespoke to each situation. Through this pathway programme, beneficiaries were able to increase interpersonal skills, cope with mental health issues and increase their confidence to move forward.
The below quote shows feedback from Janey, a woman who came to Venus whilst needing support to address outstanding arrears on her household and utility bills. She also struggled with depression and anxiety, which left her feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Venus helped Janey to set up affordable payment plans alongside emotional support at all times while they negotiated with her creditors.
‘I can’t explain how it feels to know that I don’t have to get stressed anymore over my bills being paid, you really don’t know how much you have helped me and can’t thank you enough for what you have done.’ (Janey Beneficiary)
