New funding opportunity launched: Women First Fund

We are inviting applications from women’s groups for projects that are able to demonstrate good practice in achieving outcomes for women on low incomes by building their skills, confidence and aspirations to enable them to enter into employment.

In this funding round we are prioritising applications from:

  • Greater Manchester
  • Newcastle, Teesside and other parts of the North East
  • Hull and Humberside
  • Leeds and Bradford
  • Sheffield
  • Merseyside
  • Rural communities in Kent, Cornwall, Cumbria, Dorset and Norfolk

The fund is open to charities, social enterprises and other non-profit organisations who have existing projects that are demonstrating good practice.

We expect to award funds to 10-15 projects at an average size of £10-15k. Funding will be awarded over one year initially. The funds are provided by the Tampon Tax and Smallwood Trust. Further funding will potentially be available from the Smallwood Trust from 2020.

Emma Crump, Head of Evaluation at the Smallwood Trust, said:

“We are delighted to launch a further round of funding with support from the Tampon Tax Fund. We look forward to receiving applications from organisations with projects and approaches that are demonstrating impact for financially vulnerable women and supporting them along the employability pathway. We are particularly excited that part of this funding initiative will involve bringing organisations together to share learning and expertise”

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Monday 4th March 2019.

We expect to announce successful applicants in May 2019.
