Community Grant Partnerships: Lancashire Women
Lancashire Women has been supporting vulnerable women since 1982 and now operate across the region. The network of centres provide a safe space run by and for women to foster health and wellbeing, develop skills and share experiences. They are one of Smallwood’s Community Grant Partners who are empowered to give grants to individual women experiencing financial hardship.
The Trust have recently refunded with a grant award of £75,000 over 3 years to enable Lancashire Women to continue to support women in crisis and meet their immediate financial needs. These included food parcels, paying for essential bills, household items and access to mobile phones, safe rehousing away from abuse and family breakdown.
By covering these costs, Lancashire Women have enabled beneficiaries to
- Build financial resilience through seeking out training and employment opportunities
- Reduce social isolation
- Improve mental and physical wellbeing
- Access safe and secure accommodation
