New Smallwood Grants Awarded: Supporting the Women’s Sector Through Covid-19 and Beyond
We are pleased to announce that £330,000 of grants have been awarded to support financially vulnerable women as well as help build the capacity of the women’s sector that’s been greatly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The organisations that have been awarded grants over three years are:
Cavell Nurses’ Trust who support UK nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants, both working and retired, during times of personal or financial hardship. They will receive £75,000 to expand the number of grants provided to women in the nursing profession.
Gingerbread who will provide helpline support to single parents and a referral route to Smallwood. They will receive £135,000 to fund their helpline which is seeing a significant rise in demand. The grant will also help enhance the digital/online engagement opportunities for single parents to set up and run micro groups supported by the Gingerbread digital team and regional group development coordinators.
Women’s Budget Group who will receive £120,000 for their Women’s Local Data Project that will build the capacity of local women’s and equalities organisations to access, analyse and use local data on women’s economic wellbeing in the UK and to campaign and lobby for change.
Emma Crump, Head of Evaluation at the Smallwood Trust said, “We are delighted to be supporting these three projects. Women’s organisations are suffering from a lack of funding during this crisis so these grants are crucial in helping them to continue their vital work.”
Announcements on grant awards for applications to our Community Grant Partnerships will be announced in July.
We will also launch a new funding round in late July.
