Strategic Plan Extension and Update for Smallwood Trust
The Board of the Smallwood Trust has agreed to extend the Strategic Plan period to the end of 2025. This extension provides an opportunity to refresh the existing plan, ensuring it remains aligned with our mission to improve the economic and social outcomes for women.
The updated strategy will incorporate recent learning from our place-based programmes, consultation with grant partners and stakeholders, and reflect the challenges posed by the current economic outlook.
Driving Long-Term Change for Women
To support our ambition for a longer-term strategy, we will be developing and refining our monitoring, evaluation and learning methodology to track the sustained progress and outcomes.
Building on Learning and Feedback
A central focus of the strategy update will be reflecting on the progress, feedback, and learning from the place-based fund and recent evaluations of our community grant partnerships.
Allocating Resources Strategically
The executive team will explore how to best balance our resources between direct grants, influencing and advocacy work, and supporting grant partners to lead these initiatives.
Focusing on Systems Change
The updated strategy provides an opportunity to clarify Smallwood’s role in the systems change continuum. To date, our greatest successes have often been in fostering resilient networks and building capacity within communities. This focus has the potential to deliver significant impact, helping to address the root causes of gendered poverty.
